JAMB Subject Combination For Economics

In UTME, note that English Language is mandatory for all courses. The other three subjects required to study Economics under the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences in the institutions listed above are:

Economics, Mathematics and any of Government, History, Geography, Lit-in-English, French and CRK/IRK.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(I) ABU accepts Arabic

(ii) UNIILORIN require Economics, Mathematics either Government or Geography or History.

(iii) OAU requires Mathematics, Economics and Geography or Government.

(iv) UI – Mathematics and any other two subjects

(v) OOU -Mathematics and any one of Economics, Geography, Government, History and Literature in English

(vi) ABU, UNIJOS, UNIMAID, EKSU and ESUTECH – Mathematics is not compulsory

(vii) UNIILORIN requires one subject from Accounting, Commerce, Business Method, Geography Government and Statistics.

(viii) AAU and BAYERO require any Social Science subject as the third subject.

(ix) DELSU requires Social/Science subject as the fourth subject.

(x) EBSU requires Mathematics, Economics and any other subject.

(xi) BINGHAM also requires Geography and Accounting.

(xii) AAUA require Mathematics, Economics and any other Social Science subject

(xiii) SALEM and EKSU require Mathematics, Economics and one other Social Science subject.

(xiv) UNILAG requires Economics, Mathematics and any Arts, Science or Social Science subject but not Commerce, CRK/IRK.

(xv) AUN Accepts any subject combination which includes Mathematics and any two of Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Literature in English, Government, History, Economics, Geography, Further Mathematics, Technical Drawing, Visual Arts, Computer Studies, Information Technology, Civics, and French.

(xvi) ABSU requires Five SSCE credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any two subjects.

(xvii) WESTERN-DEL requires Economics, Mathematics and any of Government, History, Geography, Literature in English.

(xviii) FED-LAFIA, DELSU requires Mathematics, Economics and Government.

(xix) NTNU accepts Principle of Accounting or Commerce in lieu of Economics.

(xx) FUNAAB requires one of Government, Commerce or Geography as the third subject.

(xxi) SALEM for Criminology requires Government and any two of Economics, Geography and Literature in English.

(xxii) NTNU accepts Economics/Principle of Accounting and any two Arts or Social Sciences subjects.

(xxiii) OOU accepts Mathematics/Economics and any two other Social Science subjects.

(xxiv) UNIABUJA requires Economic, Mathematics, and any other subject in Social and Management Sciences

O Level (WAEC and NECO) Requirements For Economics

In order to study Economics in the University, you will need to pass the following requirements in your O level result which can either be WAEC or NECO or even both:
Five SSCE credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any two of Arts or Social Science subjects.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) UNICAL does not accept Commerce.

(ii) OAU requires Five ‘0’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Economics, Geography/ Government and any Arts or Social Science subject.

(iii) UNIMAID accepts a pass in Mathematics, but such candidates will be required to pass a remedial course in Mathematics

(iv) UNILAG accepts Arts, Social Science and Science subjects in addition to Mathematics and Economics. Commerce is not accepted as O/L subject.

(v) UI requires 5 credit passes to include Mathematics, Economics and any two Arts or Social Science subjects.

(vi) BAYERO accept two only Social Science subjects.

(vii) AAUA requires English Language, Mathematics, Economics and one Social Science subject plus any other subject

(viii) EKSU requires five ‘O’ Level credit passes to include English language, Mathematics, Economics and any two other subjects, one of which must be a Social Science subject.

(ix) KSU requires any two relevant subjects as the fourth and fifth subjects.

(x) COVENANT requires five ‘O’ Level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Economics , one science subject from the following (Biology, Health/ General Science, Agricultural Science, Physics and Chemistry) and either of Geography, Government, Accounting, Book Keeping and Commerce.

(xi) COVENANT for Marketing requires English Language, Mathematics, Economics one of Government or History and any Science subject from Biology, Health/General Science, Agricultural Science, Physics and Chemistry

(xii) UNIOSUN requires Five ‘O’ level credit passes in English, Mathematics, Economics and any two of Social Science subjects at one sitting.

(xiii) AUN requires Five ‘O’ level credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, and any other three subjects from the following; Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Literature in English, Government, History, Economics, Geography, Further Mathematics, Technical Drawing, Visual Arts, Computer Studies, Information Technology, Civics, and French.

(xiv) KASU requires five ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any two of Arts or Social Science subjects and at least one Science subject.

(xvi) BELLS accepts two A’ Level passes in any two of Chemistry, Economics, Geography and Mathematics

(xvi) GO accepts
(a) for Accounting BSc, BA or HND in other discipline, ND (Upper Credit) in Accounting, Foundation of ICAN.
(b) For Business Administration two ‘A’ level passes in Economics and any one of Mathematics, Statistics, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Agric Science, Accounting, Business Management, History and Government. BSc, BA or HND in other discipline, ND (Upper Credit) in Business Administration.

(xvii) NTNU accepts any two A’ level passes in Arts or Social Sciences subjects, ND/HND (lower credit) or NCE (merit) in relevant fields

(xviii) PAUL requires five SSCE credit passes in not more than two sittings including English Language, Mathematics and Economics.

(xix) REDEEMER’S requires Five ‘O’ Level credit passes to include English Language Mathematics, Economics and any other two subjects in Arts or Social Sciences.

(xx) WESTERN-DEL requires five SSCE passes including English Language, Mathematics, Economics and one other Social Science subject.

(xxi) NDU requires the five ‘O’ level credit passes in not more than two sittings.

(xxii) LAPAI requires Five ‘O’ level credit passes in English, Mathematics, Economics and any two of Social Science subjects.

(xxiii) DELSU requires one of the other subjects from Commerce, Principles of Book Keeping and Accounts, Geography, Government and Secretarial Studies.

(xxiv) UNN requires Five ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Economics and two other relevant subjects at WASC or GCE ‘O’ level.

(xxv) UNIILORIN requires one of the two other subjects from Accounting, Commerce, Business Methods, Geography, Statistics and Government.

(xxvi) FUNAAB requires two other relevant subjects from any of Government, Geography, Commerce, Physics, History or Statistics.

(xxvii) NDA requires the two other subjects from Accounting, Commerce, Geography, History, French, Arabic and Government.

(xxviii) UMYUK requires Five credit passes at SSCE (or its equivalent) in English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any two from Commerce, Government Geography, Accounting and Book Keeping in not more than two sittings.

(xxix) FED-LAFIA requires credit passes in Government and any of one of Commerce, History, CRK or IRS as the two other subjects.

Direct Entry Requirements For Economics

To apply for Economics as a Direct Entry candidate, you require: Two ‘A’ level passes in Economics and any one of Mathematics, Statistics, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Agric Science, Accounting, Business Management, History and Government.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) UI ONLY A/Levels.

(ii) OAU accepts ND (Upper credit).

(iii) ANSU and ESUTECH accept ND with GPA not below 2.50 (on 4.0 scale) NCE, HND and First Degree.

(iv) UDU accepts ND (upper credit).

(v) UDU accept National Diploma not below credit level in Business Studies and Statistics

(vi) UI accepts two ‘A’ level passes but O/L credit passes should include Mathematics and Economics.

(vii) EBSU and UNIMAID accept ND (upper credit)/HND (upper credit) in relevant fields plus UTME requirements.

(viii) OAU accepts ‘A’ level passes in Economics, and any other subject.

(ix) OOU accepts ND (Upper Credit) in Marketing, General Admin. e.t.c. of OOU at least Lower Credit.

(x) BAYERO does not accept Chemistry, Physics, and Agricultural Science and History.

(xi) UNIZIK accepts 2 A’ level passes from Economics, Mathematics and Political Science. Direct Entry Applicants must posses UTME requirement.

(xii) UNN requires UTME requirements.

(xiii) DELSU accepts NCE in Economics and one other Social Science subject.

(xiv) EKSU accepts any of the followings:
(a) five SSCE credit passes in Mathematics, Economics, English Language and two other subjects one of which must be from the Social Science
(b) Two A/L passes in Economics and any of Geography, Government and Mathematics.

(xv)COVENANT accepts ND (Upper credit) in Marketing, Business Administration or Banking and Finance.

(xvi) IGBINEDION accepts National Diploma (Lower Credit) in Accounting, Business Admin./ Banking and Finance; NCE in Economics, Mathematics or any other Social Science subject.

(xvii) LASU requires A’ level pass in English Language.

(xviii) AL-HIKMAH accepts two A’ level passes in Economics and any other relevant subject.

(xix) UNIJOS does not require a credit pass in History and does not accept ND, HND and NCE as entry requirements.

(xx) AAUA does not accept Physics, Chemistry or Agric. Sc. but accepts National Diploma at Upper Credit level and HND at lower Credit level in relevant discipline.

(xxi) UNIUYO accepts ND/HND in relevant fields plus UTME requirements.

(xxii) AJAYI accepts ‘A’ Level or equivalents in Economics and one of Accounting, Business Management, Mathematics, Geography and Government.

(xxiii) BIU requires in addition to the O’ level requirements specified, a minimum of two relevant subjects passed at GCE Advanced level or NCE (3 merits) or National Diploma in relevant field not below credit level.

(xxiv) BOWEN accepts two ‘A’ level passes which must include Economics, IJMB/NCE/ND or approved equivalent in relevant subject(s).

(xxv) UNIOSUN accepts also accepts ND and approved equivalent in Accounting, Business Administration and Banking and Finance with at least upper credit level.

(xxvi) AUN accepts
(a) ‘A’ level passes chosen from English Language, Mathematics, Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Literature in English, Government, History, Economics, Geography, Further Mathematics, Technical Drawing, Visual Arts, Computer Studies, Information Technology, Civics, and French.
(b) does not accept credit passes in the following; Agriculture, Food and Nutrition, Home Economics, Home Craft, Home management, Physical Education, Physical and Health Education, Music, Commerce, Accounting, Financial Accounting, Book keeping, Islamic History, Religious Studies, Tajweed, Library Studies, Diction, Kiswahili, Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba, Arabic, Turkish, Study skills.
(c) accepts ICGSE and ‘A’ level Cambridge and does not offer admissions direct to 200 level programs. May transfer credits relevant to it’s major at the discretion of the Dean of school

(xxvii) CRAWFORD accepts
(a) Statistics.
(b) NCE – with passes in Economics, Mathematics or any Social Science
(c) ND/HND in relevant subjects not lower than Lower Credit.

(xxviii) WESTERN-DEL accepts two ‘A’ level passes in Economics and one other subjects

(xxix) BELLS accepts two A’ Level passes in any two of Chemistry, Economics, Geography and Mathematics

(xxx) AUE accepts NCE or equivalent in relevant subjects with upper credit grade in addition to UTME requirement

(xxxi) DELSU Requires two A’ level passes in Economics and any one of Geography, Government and Mathematics. It also accepts ND (Upper Credit) in Business Administration, Accounting, Marketing, Statistics and Banking/Finance. It as well accepts NCE in Economics.

(xxxii) KWASU accepts IJMB Cambridge only.

(xxxiii) RHEMA accepts National Diploma in Economics, Marketing, Business Administration, Banking and Finance, Accounting or NCE in Economics plus UTME requirements.

(xxxiv) FUNAAB requires A’ level passes in Economics and at least one of Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Government plus UTME requirement. It does not accept NCE.

(xxxv) RENAISSANCE accepts NCE, ND/HND or First Degree plus five credit passes at O’ level subjects other than those passed at advanced level.

(xxxvi) BAYERO does not accept Chemistry, Physics, and Agricultural Science and History.

(xxxvii) NDU accepts
a. Two ‘A’ level passes in Economics and any one of the following: Geography, Statistics, History, Accounting, Business Management.
b. ND (Upper Credit) or NCE (credit level) relevant to Economic combination

(xxxviii) NTNU accepts any two A’ level passes in Arts or Social Sciences subjects, ND/HND (lower credit) or NCE (merit) in relevant fields

(xxxix) EBSU accepts HND, NCE and ND with a minimum of Merit and Upper credit respectively in relevant fields.

(xl) UMYUK accepts IJMB with a minimum of 9 points in Economics and 2 other social sciences or management science subjects or a National Diploma in Accounting, Banking and Finance, Business Administration, Purchasing and Supply Economics/Cooperative with at least lower credit. NCE in Economics and any other two relevant subjects with a minimum of 9 points.

(xli) SOUTHWESTERN accepts ND/HND or IJMB/NCE/ND/HND and any one from Government, Geography, Further Mathematics, and Economics history or approved equivalent.

(xlii) ESUTECH in addition to Direct Entry requirements, requires three additional O’ level credit passes in subjects other than those passed at advanced level.

(xliii) SOSU requires candidates to also satisfy O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any other two Arts or Social Sciences subjects.

(xliv) UNILAGOS accepts;
(a) Very good passes in three (3) JUPEB/A-LEVEL subjects: Economics and any two (2) of Accounting, Geography, Further Mathematics, Government, Lit-in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
(b) At least two (2) Cambridge A/Level passes in Economics, and any one (1) of the following: Statistics, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Agric Science, Business Management, Mathematics, Accounting, History or Government.
(c) Candidates must satisfy the O/Level requirement

(xlv) UNIABUJA accepts two A level Credit Passes in Economics and any of Science, Social Science, Management subjects or History/Government OR NCE(minimum 10 points) OR ND with Upper Credit in relevant discipline in addition to the ‘O’ level requirements
